Well done to everybody on a very successful first week back at Portumna Community School. We now have our full cohort of students settled back in and we are looking forward to a positive and productive year ahead.
All students from 2nd Year to 6th Year should still have access to their Athena logins from last year. We encourage students to log in and set targets in their subject areas in preparation for the Week 10 assessments in October. First Years will receive their logins over the course of the next month.
Our school app calendar is currently being updated – please keep an eye on this for key dates and upcoming events, particularly the dates and times of parent-teacher meetings.
We are putting a strong emphasis this year on students recording homework in their journals, completing their homework consistently, and parents monitoring this regularly. Please also encourage your son or daughter to take part in supervised study here in the school – correspondence on this has already been sent out by Mrs Lohan.
Attendance has been excellent this week, and we encourage everyone to keep up these high standards: be in, be on time, be ready to work. If you need to collect your son or daughter for an appointment, we would appreciate if this could be done at morning break or lunchtime, as previously mentioned.
Congratulations also to our Leaving Cert Class of 2025 and all their teachers on their excellent results and this week’s CAO offers – a fantastic achievement.
Finally, a warm welcome to our new First Years, including three sets of twins who joined us this week – pictured here with their Head of Year, Ms Kelly. Special mention to the TY Cairde for the excellent work done over the course of the past 10 days assisting with the transition to post primary school. Please note that your child’s Year Head is your first point of contact for all communication.
Finally, County Photos will visit the school ok September 4th.
