Please see below an update on Senior Cycle programme selection and the key dates for subject options.
Parent Information Session
Ms. Lyons and Mr. Smith will host an online information session on Monday, 23rd February at 7.00pm (the first Monday after midterm). This session will outline all Senior Cycle programmes — Transition Year (TY), Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA), and traditional Fifth Year — and Ms. Lyons will also provide an overview of subject options.
Senior Cycle Showcase
A Senior Cycle Showcase will take place on Wednesday, 4th March from 10.00am–11.00am in the school gym. This “marketplace-style” event will give Third Year and TY students the opportunity to gather information on subjects and Senior Cycle programmes. Senior students will present individual subjects and programme options (TY and LCA). Ms. Lyons will liaise with Heads of Department to arrange student representatives for each subject area.
An additional assembly hosted by Ms. Lyons-Guidance Counsellor for Third Year and TY groups will also take place during that week (to be scheduled with the Year Heads).
Programme Selection Form
Following the online information session, parents will receive a programme selection form (students will also have attended the Showcase and assemblies). This form must be completed by Friday, 6th March, indicating your child’s chosen programme: TY, LCA, or traditional Fifth Year.
VSware Subject Choice
Once programme choices are confirmed, the VSware portal will open for Fifth Year subject selection on Tuesday, 10th March. A link will be issued via the school app by Ms. Shanahan Dunne or Mr. McClearn.
All Fifth Year subject choices must be submitted on VSware by Monday, 16th March. This final deadline ensures subject bands and timetabling can be arranged. Mr. McClearn and Ms. Shanahan Dunne will begin timetabling on 19th March.
TY and LCA Applications
Students applying for TY must submit their TY application form to Mr. Smith by Friday, 13th March.
Students applying for LCA must also submit their completed application to Mr. Smith by Friday, 13th March.
Application forms for both programmes will be provided after the parents’ information session.
