As part of LCA6’s project work on Contemporary Issues, Kieran Forde invited Emma O’Brien and ex-pupil Allanah Young to come and share their expertise in animal welfare. Kieran’s brief is to raise awareness on animal welfare in his community.
Emma & Allanah surprised us by bringing in Maloney the greyhound with them. While Kieran, Emma & Allanah led the class through core issues to do with the animal welfare situation in Ireland, Maloney cruised the crowd and touched hearts.
We learned a huge amount in a very fast-paced, often challenging presentation. Once again, we were humbled by the dedication of GSPCA’s workers, and the importance of its role in rescuing animal victims of cruelty and neglect, as well as in educating the public and advocating for animals that can’t speak for themselves.
We were blessed to benefit from Emma & Allanah’s wisdom and experience, and to make a new friend in Maloney.
Massive thanks to Emma, Allanah & Maloney and all at GSPCA for your sterling work, to Mr McClearn, Ms Dunne and Mr Smith for accommodating us, and well done to the LCAs for their important research.
