Junior Development Boys League Rugby Final

December 3, 2025

Portumna Community School were crowned champions of the Schools Junior Development Boys League Final after a thrilling game hosted by Ballinasloe RFC. Sincere thanks to the club for providing an excellent venue. The cup was presented by Mick Turley, Connacht Rugby Junior Vice President, with Stephen Gregory serving as referee.

Captain Thomas Deegan opened the scoring with the first try of the match. Jorge Delcado followed with the second, and Alban Morina secured the third. Charlie Scannell kept the scoreboard moving with a well-taken penalty and added two successful conversions, playing a key role in the victory.

Opponents Coláiste na Coiribe put up a strong, physical contest and proved to be outstanding opponents. The win was built on a tremendous all-round team effort, with every player and panel member contributing to the success.

A special thanks goes to Portumna RFC for their ongoing support of the school’s rugby programme. A big shoutout also to the brilliant supporters—students and families—who turned out in numbers today and created a fantastic atmosphere.
