Portumna Community School has been an active participant in the European Parliament Ambassador Schools ( EPAS ) programme for over ten years. The EPAS programme is a network of schools across the EU raising awareness of European Parliamentary Democracy and European citizenship values. Over 70 schools in Ireland are taking part.
Transition Year students follow a structured programme of learning and activities focused on the European Union. They completed a course booklet, created a ‘school info’ powerpoint on the EU (in the form of an online magazine, see below) and helped teach 1st year students about the EU in their CSPE lessons.
